We welcomed Elizabeth Boe from the Episcopal church to our diocese

First published on: 9th December 2022

The Tsedaqah community was pleased to welcome Elizabeth Boe, Young Adult Services Corps (YASC) co-ordinator for the Episcopal Church and Fellow of Liverpool Cathedral, to Liverpool last month. Elizabeth was joined by two YASC missioners, Joris and Madeline, currently serving in Rome.

The visit coincided with the American festival of Thanksgiving and in addition to sharing faith stories and experiences, the community were able to share together in a traditional Thanksgiving meal prepared by the American YASC representatives. It was quite a treat and a good opportunity to learn more about culture and faith in the different countries represented around the table. It was both poignant and encouraging to finish the meal in the traditional way with each member speaking about what they are thankful for in their own lives and situations.

The group was also able to witness history at the Cathedral College of Canons election of our new diocesan bishop, Bishop John. Whilst the election itself was attended only by the canons, The Tsedaqah Community and visitors attended the evensong where the formal election result was announced. Wonderful to have such a representation of young people at the announcement and a privilege for the Community to be a part of such an important and historic process. The photo shows our residents and visitors with Bishop Bev after the election, prior to the start of evensong.

We are blessed to have 4 Tsedaqah residents this year representing the  USA, Ghana and Haiti please be sure to welcome and encourage them when you meet them across out diocese.
