Listening to Children & Young People Resources

“We must commit ourselves to listen to the voices of younger generations and the challenging messages they may bring to light.” Going for Growth

Introduction: Listening to Children & Young people

Imagine you have something very important to say, but that no one is actually listening to you!

It's a feeling that many of our children and young people experience within our churches and groups today.

For too long we have been making decisions for our children and young people, based on what we feel they need and want.

Yet they have incredible insights, suggestions, and ideas to share if we gave them the opportunity and space to do so.

By taking the time to really listen, will help to challenge and change not only the church but help shape the future of our world.

"Every child has the right to say what they think in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously”.

Article 12: UN Convention of the Rights of the Child, UNICEF 1989

This resource section is designed to encourage your church, school and community to listen to its children and young people and value them for who they are and what they bring.

Why not take the opportunity to bring the generations together, to listen to each other and help shape the church, and bring about change for the future of our world together.

'Listening to Children and Young People' is divided into two sections;
