Readers Quiet Day - Saturday 9th March 10am - 3pm St Josephs Prayer Centre, Blundell Avenue, Formby, L37 1PH

Meeting God in the Garden

From Eden through to Gethsemane to the garden round the empty tomb, the Biblical garden is a setting for significant divine encounter. And as Christians called to be fruitful, the garden can also stand as a metaphor for our lives, helping us to discern what may need to be planted, cultivated, pruned, weeded - or simply given space to rest.

This retreat day gives us opportunity to reflect and re-connect with the God who comes looking for us in the garden.

Our quiet day will be led by Julia McGuiness who is Poet in Residence at Chester Cathedral and a Reader with the Diocese of Chester.

Please bring a packed lunch with you, tea and coffee will be provided.

The Prayer Centre is situated in beautiful grounds surrounded by the National Trust nature reserve, in Freshfield on Merseyside, which is also home to the nationally acclaimed red squirrel. Woodland and coastal walks can be taken directly from the centre. The award winning beach and Irish Sea are just 10 minutes’ walk away. On the northwest coast of England our sunsets are some of the most beautiful in the world.

Spacious well-kept grounds surround the centre; and ample parking is available. There is also a peaceful courtyard garden, for a time of quiet reflection.
