Bishop of Warrington

Bishop of Warrington Biography

Bev has three brothers and comes from a military family.  Her childhood was spent travelling between army bases around the world.  After leaving school, she worked in the financial sector, first at Merrill Lynch in Düsseldorf and then London in institutional investments and then for US stockbrokers in equity sales.

During a gap year in 1994, she came to faith whilst backpacking through Africa.  She returned to the UK at the end of that year and became a humanitarian aid worker for Christian charities, Aid to Russian Christians and then Humanity at Heart.
During this period, she discerned a vocation to Holy Orders and a call to singleness. Bev studied Theology at Chichester University before formal training for ordination at Trinity College, Bristol.  She was ordained deacon in 2001 and served her title at St Paul’s, Rusthall in the Diocese of Rochester and St Margaret’s, Rainham. In 2005, Beverley was appointed vicar of St John the Evangelist, Upper Norwood, in the Diocese of Southwark where she also served as Area Dean for the Croydon North Deanery.

In 2012, she was appointed vicar of All Saints, Bingley in the historic Diocese of
Bradford and from January 2016 she has served as Archdeacon of Richmond of Craven in the new Diocese of Leeds where she also covered the eleven-months vacancy in the See of Ripon.
Bev is a member of the Leading your Church into Growth Team (LYCIG), the College of Evangelists and for many years she has been a member of On Fire for Mission, an annual conference/celebration for those who want to unite the richness of anglo-Catholic worship and devotion with the vibrancy of the Charismatic Movement. She has been very engaged in clergy leadership training and development, parish development and ministry and mission in rural and urban contexts and across the wide traditions of the Church.
Bev has enjoyed extreme sports such as parachuting, paragliding, scuba diving, white water rafting, abseiling and bungee jumping.  Today her interests are rather more subdued: Faith matters, Art, Dales Walking, rock concerts and her over-indulged Westie - St James the Less.
