South Liverpool Deanery explore Fit for Mission at Marketplace event

Last month, All Souls Springwood hosted a Fit for Mission ‘Marketplace’ event for everyone in the South Liverpool Deanery.

The well-attended event offered the opportunity to speak with members of the Fit for Mission team, as well as the chance to hear from clergy in the Cohort 1 parishes of St Helens and West Derby, who have been the first to journey through the experience of working together as larger parishes, learning and exploring what this means for them.

The evening opened in a time of prayer and reflection before close to 200 people browsed a range of market-style stalls, with time to ask questions and have conversations on topics such as Governance, social justice initiatives and ‘why fit for Mission’.

This event is just one of the ways that local people, parishes and clergy can learn more about Fit for Mission. To ensure parishes and leadership teams can make informed decisions about this journey, South Liverpool’s exploration of Fit for Mission will continue in 2024 with a range of planned activities, including a series of printed and email resources, focused on key topics and questions.

South Liverpool Area Dean, Nicola Milford said ““The South Liverpool Fit for Mission marketplace event was a great opportunity to hear more about Fit for Mission, from those involved in the programme. We were keen this was open to everyone to attend, not just PCC members, so everyone could hear more information, and ask any questions they had. I’d recommend that other Deaneries consider this approach.”
