Revd David Banbury to be Fit for Mission Engagement Manager

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Revd Canon David Banbury as Engagement Manager working with the Fit for Mission Team.  David has 35 years of experience working in a diverse range of parishes and in national and diocesan roles.  He is currently Vicar of St John the Baptist Church, Burscough. Before moving to our diocese he was Leader of the Parish Mission Support Department and Diocesan Missioner in Blackburn.


David will be supporting deaneries and churches in cohort three of the Fit for Mission engagement process, alongside assisting the Fit for Mission team in areas such as communications and resource development.


Richard Gedge, Fit for Mission Programme Manager, said “we are pleased to have David joining us as we look to help churches and deaneries engage with Fit for Mission.” Richard added “he has a wealth of experience which will be a real asset to the Diocese.”
David commented “I am delighted to be taking on this exciting role and I look forward to supporting the Churches and Deaneries of Liverpool Diocese as we explore what it means to be Fit for Mission”

David is married to Kathryn and they have two grown-up children.  Amongst a wide range of hobbies and interests David is passionate about military history, is a long suffering supporter of Sunderland Football Club and loves tea and cake.

David will be taking on his new role in February 2024.
