Almost £14000 raised for Micah Liverpool at music fundraiser

First published on: 15th December 2023

St Michael in the Hamlet Church held a star-studded concert on Friday December 8th and this year it was all in aid of Micah Liverpool. With a fantastic line up of musicians including Paul Weller, John Power Cast Band, Kathryn Williams and Reid Anderson a great evening was had by all.

St Michael's has established a huge local reputation hosting many exceptional concerts through St Michael's Live. Each year they host a Christmas fundraiser which raises much needed funds for a good local cause.

Beginning the evening was Reid Anderson with a beautiful acoustic set of original songs and covers.  Kathryn Williams was a delight as her soaring vocals and original sound were as wonderful as ever. Paul Weller wowed everyone with his acoustic set joined by comrades and companions. His set was outstanding and he took the opportunity to talk about the shame many of us feel surrounding the continuing to need for foodbanks in a county of so much wealth. His set was received warmly and to much acclaim. John Power performed his set to a local crowd who know him and love his music. He was on great form and played some incredible numbers.

All these musicians, their technical support, the church, management and many others gave their time and skills for free. Jesus fed 5000 people with just five loaves and two fishes. This gig will feed people through this music. A modern miracle took place in a humble church through the gifts of many people who shared a wonderful evening.

Paul O’Brien, from Micah Liverpool said "The gig was a great evening and raised almost £14000, this donation is welcomed as Micah Liverpool will provide more food parcels than ever in 2023. A huge Thank You needs to go out to everyone who supported us on the night as well as Steve Pilgrim and the artists."
