Meet our vocations team

First published on: 14th October 2022

"Over the last few months, our Vocations Team has been reshaping with some new full and part-time staff. Here we introduce the team and their specific responsibilities to make it easier for you to make first contact with the person who can most quickly support you.

This team works with many other partners including Vocational Coaches, our Racial Justice Officer, the Dean of Diversity and Social Action Partners, Bishop’s Advisors for Reader Ministry, Sector Ministry and Self-Supporting Ordained Ministry, plus a dedicated Assistant DDO team.

As we look to the future, this team is committed to supporting and enabling the flourishing of all kinds of Christian vocation which is an outworking of the call of everyone to follow Christ in their everyday lives. As we seek to be part of encouraging a younger and more diverse church in this diocese and beyond, we will work to support this clear vocation for all people to join in God’s mission with a wide variety of expressions. We will continue to develop our programmes that support lay people in discovering how to use their gifts and skills in the service of God in the world and the church. Alongside this are the opportunities to explore a variety of ordained ministry roles including a renewed opportunity for the distinctive diaconate.

The team will also develop programmes of ongoing development and training for those involved in specific ministries. At a time when there is an urgent need for the world to discover and rediscover the hope of Christ, this team is excited to play their part in encouraging and supporting our churches to help everyone discover and have the courage to seek what God is asking of them.

The next opportunity to explore a wide variety of inspiration is at our LifeCall event on Saturday 19th November, do come along, we would be delighted to talk with you and introduce you to others on the day from a range of opportunities to serve."
