Ordinations training myth busters

First published on: 3rd May 2018

Our LifeCall event on Tuesday, May 8th, 2018 will help you to explore if God might want you to be an ordained minister.

We spoke to Vocations officer Debbie Ellison about what type of myths will be busted at the event: Debbie said “We want to answer as many of your questions as possible about ordination training.

These might include:

  • Am I too young?
  • Am I too old?
  • Can I afford it?
  • Am I clever enough?
  • What happens if I get pregnant?
  • Can I fit the training in around my family life?
  • Will I get enough support?
  • Do I need to move out of my home?

All of these questions and more will be answered along with busting some myths about the selection process, training and what a day in the life of a vicar is really like.”

Joining the vocations team and Bishop Paul at the event will be speakers from an array of backgrounds who have ended up in different types of ministry; Rev Helen Coffey, vicar in Ashton, Rev Daniel Howard, vicar in Warrington who are both full time parish vicars and Rev Dr Anne Kazich who is a GP and Community Priest and Rev Alec Parkinson who is a retired Prison Chaplain.

This is a great opportunity for you to find out about the different training options for ordained ministry and how the process works.

Hosted by Bishop Paul, this is your chance to ask questions and discuss with others who are similarly thinking about where God is calling them.
