How can we re-vision our ministry to children and families in 2021

First published on: 8th January 2021

Following on from the first Open the box Conversation held in December Sue Mitchell our Children & Families Missioner said " It was really good to spend time with so many of our wonderful leaders and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to keep in touch with the children and families of our parishes, in a time when nothing is certain and guidelines change sometimes on a daily basis!”

Hearing of some of the amazing work people have been doing was really encouraging, but a key part of the Conversation is to be able to offer a space to listen and support those who are simply tired and struggling and feeling overwhelmed.

Many leaders and volunteers are tired, just as the children and families are struggling to try to engage with worship on zoom. The amount of work that’s being done through dropping off craft kits and Sunday sheets for children to complete was incredible and all credit to those who have worked often alone to make this happen.

So where do we go now, what will 2021 bring?
Our second Conversation will look at how we can move forward. How can we re-imagine what our ministry to children young people and families might look like. Join us to chat further about this on Wed 20th January.
In our February conversation, we will be joined by Scripture Union who will be sharing ideas and a new initiative they have recently launched.

If you feel you would like to have a one to one conversation with Sue about any aspect of your role, work or simply just to have  a friendly chat, please do email her at sue.mitchell@liverpool.anglican.org
