Since autumn 2021 the PCCs of St Helens and West Derby have been exploring the Fit for Mission programme, working through what it will look like in more detail.  Here they share some of their stories of what Fit for Mission means to them.

Helen Edwards vicar of Christchurch, Norris Green

“We are still trying to do church in the way that it was done years ago in the 1950's. Are schools, doctors. shops, libraries running the same way? Not really. Yes they have the same values, but they've changed, adapted, and look a bit different to how they did.  All across the Church of England there's a realisation we need to do things differently. Otherwise, to be frank, we risk collapsing and not having the Church of England to pass on to future generations.” Helen Edwards vicar of Christchurch, Norris Green

Chris Daniel Area Dean of St Helens

"Creating a model iceberg that gradually melted as the centerpiece of a key gathering of laity and clergy was instrumental in reinforcing to us that we needed to continue to work collaboratively." Read how this lightbulb moment led to the realisation of a need to get Fit for Mission
