We in the Diocese of Liverpool are enormously grateful to Faiths4Change for the work they have done to enable and challenge us as individuals, churches, St James' House and Bishop’s Lodge to reach out to become an eco-diocese. We are very close to reaching this goal but there is still time to get involved…particularly as we will be continuing this campaign in 2020 and beyond!
Supported by Bishop Paul, as part of Interfaith Week, about 50 people met on Sunday Nov 17 for our first Faith and Climate conference. This event was in part a celebration of our work but also a time for challenge. Together with people from other faith groups we made commitments to care for creation and spoke boldly about our common hope to conserve God’s earth. As one participant said so clearly we committed to: “Living our hope to leave a healthy legacy and care for this beautiful planet”
Bishop Paul said after the conference: “As patron of Faiths4Change I want to extend my thanks to Annie Merry for her inspirational leadership. You have worked so hard to enable us to become an eco-diocese and inspired many churches to become eco-churches – including Christ Church Toxteth Park to be our first Gold eco-church. By encouraging us to make small significant changes we are together making a bigger difference. Thank you for leading us and I continue to pray that together we can keep this work going and press on to all go for gold!”
