Bishop David opens brand new school building
The Bishop of Warrington, Bishop David Jennings formally opened the new school buildings at St John’s Burscough Church of England School on Tuesday 22nd April. The school, which has seen extensive improvements, are celebrating a new building which provides much better facilities for its pupils and staff.
Extensive alterations have meant that for the first time the school has a fantastic bright and airy hall which will be used for assemblies, indoor PE, school plays and productions and out of school activities. The building work has joined the infant and junior schools together with a bright new corridor that will provide an excellent facility for displaying pupils work. The school are also benefiting from a new reception, entrance hall and library.
Year 6 pupils at the school are particularly pleased. For years the Year 6 pupils have been taught in the church hall. Thanks to the building work they have moved into a bright, spacious, air conditioned classroom in the main school. In the words of a Year 3 pupil, it’s just like having a new school.
Bishop David said “I am delighted to be formally opening the new school buildings at St John’s Burscough. St John’s is an excellent Church of England School and they have waited a long time for these new facilities. The new building will enable the school to continue to thrive and flourish and I pray God’s blessing for it”
Karen Cartwright, HeadTeacher at St John’s Burscough said “we are thrilled with our new building and I would like to thank everyone who has helped develop this on behalf of the staff, pupils and governing body. It is like having a new school and we believe that with this building we can continue to provide a high quality education for the pupils of Burscough.”
