Liverpool Cathedral makes groundbreaking appointment to senior role

Liverpool Cathedral has appointed the Diocesan Secretary for the Diocese of Liverpool, Mike Eastwood, as their new Cathedral Administrator. Mike will be carrying out this role – to be retitled Director of Operations – while continuing as Diocesan Secretary, a first for the Church of England. story continues

Sheppard-Worlock memorial dedicated during two Cathedral's Walk of Witness

Christians from throughout the Merseyside region gave public witness to their friendship and work together when they took part in the Two Cathedrals’ Service and walk along Liverpool’s Hope Street.  This year the walk saw the dedication of a memorial sculpture in memory of the former Bishop of Liverpool, David Sheppard and Archbishop, Derek Worlock.  The sculpture, paid for by public subscription, was commissioned by the ‘Liverpool Echo’ newspaper following a campaign in memory of the two Church Leaders. story continues

Bishop James unveiled key stone on new church school building.

The Bishop of Liverpool, Bishop James Jones, maked an important milestone in the development of a new church school building for St Elphin’s School,Warrington on Monday 17th March. The Bishop unveiled a keystone in the new building. Also in attendance were the Rev Mike Finlay, Vicar of St Elphins, the Mayor of Warrington as well as local council representatives and some pupils from the school. story continues

St John and St James, Orrel Hey receives prestigious award for the quality of its welcome to children.

St John and St James Orrel Hey is celebrating receiving the prestigious Child Friendly Church award from the Diocese of Liverpool. The award is only given to churches following an independent evaluation of the work they have carried out to making themselves more child and family friendly. story continues

Bishop David opens brand new school building

The Bishop of Warrington, Bishop David Jennings formally opened the new school buildings at St John’s Burscough Church of England School on Tuesday 22nd April. The school, which has seen extensive improvements, are celebrating a new building which provides much better facilities for its pupils and staff. story continues

Rev Canon Phil Potter licensed as Pioneer Minister

Bishop James, The Bishop of Liverpool, licensed Rev Canon Phil Potter as Director of Pioneer Ministry for the diocese of Liverpool on April 9th.  The ceremony. at St. Mark’s Haydock, will marked an important step for the church as they are commissioned as a pioneer resource church to the diocese. story continues

The Diocese of Liverpool is celebrating the Licensing of eleven Lay Readers for the Church of England. The licensing took place on April 12th in a grand ceremony presided by Bishop James at Liverpool Cathedral. story continues

Cinnamon Brow Church of the Resurrection and of St Bridget welcomed Revd Denise Williams as its new priest in charge with a special service on April 24th. The service, was led by the Bishop of Warrington, Bishop David, and the Archdeacon of Warrington offered a chance for the community to welcome their new vicar and her family to the parish. story continues
