Malcolm dedicated his MBE to the memory of Anthony Walker, who was murdered in 2005, and all victims of Hate Crime. Malcolm, who has supported Gee Walker and the family since Anthony's murder got her permission before making the dedication.

Malcolm said "Shortly after Anthony died, at the start of the darkest of all journeys for his family, I made Gee, his mother and my friend a promise: that I would do all I could to ensure his name would never be forgotten”

“In the years since he was murdered, it has been a privilege to remember Anthony and continue to challenge racism and all that would seek to divide and destroy our communities, through multi-cultural festivals, workshops, acts of remembrance, youth pilgrimages etc Greater than the honour or receiving the MBE, is the privilege of being able to dedicate it to Anthony's memory”
