Lifelong learning and you
“Fan into flame the gift of God which is within you”
The Lifelong Learning department seeks to contribute to the Mission of God within the Diocese by assisting and stimulating all of the baptised in their transformation into Christ's likeness (discipleship) and their equipping for works of service (ministry).
Lifelong Learning is an activity of the whole church at every level, and primarily goes on within local churches. The Lifelong Learning department aims to work alongside local churches, supporting them, and organising those activities which are best done in a wider context, or are beyond the scope of individual churches to organise effectively.
The lifelong learning department has a particular responsibility for licensed ministers (clergy, Readers and others) – guiding their initial training and formation, and then supporting them in their ministry. It also supports those exploring God’s calling – whether that might be to new ways of contributing in their community or church, or to licensed ministry as clergy or a Reader.
