Soundscapes: Music and Healing through Life and Death

Tuesday 28th March 2017 - 7.30pm

The profound and mysterious relationship between music and healing is well documented. Music is a form of therapy that consoles and can mend what is broken. In 2008 the accomplished violinist Paul Robertson (a founding member of the Medici Quartet) suffered a ruptured aorta. After dying for a
lengthy period on the operating table he remained in a coma for many weeks.

During this period he experienced visions which altered his understanding of the world and beyond. Soundscapes sets down his remarkable experiences and his musical relationship with the composer Sir John Tavener who has also written a work Towards Silence depicting near-death experience. Both works will feature in these Spring meetings to aid our understanding of memory and the mind and experiences that point us to the divine at the heart of the universe.
