Tuesday June 20th and 27th, July 4th 2017 - 7.30pm
Preaching, Pastoral Care and Prophecy in a Post-Truth Age
We seem to be witnessing the rise of a ‘post-truth’ culture. Outrageous and offensive opinions ask to be taken seriously and facts are routinely disregarded if they get in the way of feelings or beliefs.
Social media confirm their prejudices and ‘expert’ opinion is rejected. This erodes the trust that underpins any healthy society and increases our sense that what we are told cannot be trusted.
Over three evenings this Summer, we shall explore this cultural shift and how we respond as preachers and pastors. The aim will be to deepen our understanding and confidence in our role as Readers. We will close with Night Prayer (Compline) at the end of each session.
