Wigan is celebrating the launch of Gateway, a new church-planting initiative in the city centre.
Gateway was set up by people from St. Mark's Haydock, Billinge Family Church, and St. Thomas's, Ashton. Gateway aims to explore new ways of 'being church' and engage with the eclectic mix of people in the town centre, particularly young people and young adults.
The launch event was attended by Bishop Richard Blackburn and the Mayor of Wigan.
Gateway will meet each Sunday at 3.00pm at Deanery High School, with many more community activities throughout the week.
Rev Frank Hinds said, "Everything that we do is run by the community of people at Gateway; we are very keen to ensure that whoever is part of us, gets involved in every aspect of it. All are welcome to get involved - just get in touch to find out more!"
