Bishop of Liverpool teaches us how to see the world through the eyes of Jesus

Liverpool Cathedral has played host to hundreds of people throughout Lent as they have listened to The Bishop of Liverpool, the Rt Reverend James Jones, explain the faith in a series of talks.

The series went on a journey through John’s gospel, to explore “the world today through the eyes of Jesus”. Each week Bishop James examined Jesus’ perspective on contemporary issues. The themes for his talk were:

•   Finding God and being found by God
•   Seeing and believing
•   Who is Jesus?
•   The problem of suffering
•   End of life issues
•   What does it mean to live in a real community?

The series has grown in numbers as we have gone through lent which reflects the fact that so many people in the world are seeking answers to the big questions in life and have welcomed the opportunity to hear about the perspective of Jesus. As well as teaching, there were plenty of opportunities to question Bishop James and discuss the important issues he raises.

Bishop James will conclude the series on Good Friday with a meditation at the Cathedral. He will also be preaching the Good News of the resurrection in the main Easter Day service.

Bishop James said “This has been an opportunity for us to be able to share the faith with people who are the fringe or who are seeking God trying to find answers to their questions. It's been great to see more and more people come each week. I have been challenged by the many interesting and thought provoking questions that have been raised.”
