St Mary Hale celebrates third consecutive Child Friendly Church award

We congratulate the team at St Mary Hale and speak to Rev Canon Janice Collier about receiving their third award in a row. A great achievement.

On Sunday 21st December St Marys, Hale held a big celebration service and a presentation for the third awarding of the Child Friendly Church (CFC) award. This is a fantastic achievement in marking nine years of being a Child friendly Church.

We spoke to Rev Canon Janice Collier who gave us these comments:

"We are thrilled to receive the CFC award. As a church we have a huge commitment to making coming to Sunday Worship as easy as possible for children and parents, but not just on Sunday... as part of the process we have developed midweek Toddler Church. We have also developed after school clubs, to help children go deeper into their faith."

Janice explains why welcoming children into the church community is so important on a personal level: "I can remember as a young mum, in the pew, battling with a toddler and a newborn in a church service, so this was my inspiration to make it as easy as possible for others. Adults in church need children present. We are not fully the body of Christ if somebody is missing! Children challenge with questions that adults are too polite to ask."

Congratulations to all the team at St Mary, Hale. Keep up the good work!
