Foundation Governors are needed for some of our Church Schools throughout the Diocese
Why not find out about becoming a Foundation Governor?
The General Synod and the Archbishops’ Council have stated that ‘Church Schools stand at the centre of the Church’s mission to the nation.’ This means that Church Schools stand alongside the Parish Church as an integral part of the Parish community.

Church of England Schools Foundation Governors
Governors have a special role they provide a vital link between school, church and community. They bring a wide range of life experiences, enthusiasm and energy to the schools they serve.
All Church of England Schools have Foundation Governors on the Governing Body - they have a special care for the school’s Christian character and this is why we do not want to have vacancies on Governing Bodies.
There are four categories of Church School:
The responsibilities vary according to the category of school but the roles are similar.
Special points of interest:
No special qualifications are needed just some time and an interest in education.
All age groups welcome. The minimum age is 18
Training is provided for Governors through the LA and Diocese.
