Bishop pays tribute to Merchant Navy

Bishop James has spoken of the calling of the sea at a service which "remembers the courage and the sacrifice of members of the Merchant Navy".

In his sermon to the annual Merchant Navy service the Bishop said the "calling of the sea is a unique vocation which is understood by a sea-faring city like Liverpool which is why it is so fitting that we should have this annual memorial service."

He paid tribute to all those who have served at sea and recognised the needs of today's seafaring community.
