This week we meet Ian Wynne who serves at St James the Great, Haydock.
Bishop Richard recently ordained sixteen new deacons. They have each agreed to share their stories with us. This week we meet Ian Wynne who serves at Haydock, St James the Great.
Ian, 58, is originally from Winwick and studied Medicine at Bristol University. He is married to Anne and they have two grown up children.
Ian works as a GP in Newton le Willows and has an interest in ophthalmology, and will continue to practice medicine alongside his new ministry.
Ian comes to St James’ Church from St Oswald’s, the parish Church of Winwick, where he was churchwarden and Lay Chairman of Winwick Deanery Synod.
Ian said, “I have felt a call to ministry since I was a teenager, but for many years it was a call for the future; in the last few years that calling has been more insistent and now is the right time. I feel called to ministry in the parish and I am really looking forward to working with and serving the community of Haydock.”
