A Kirkby Church is hosting its own wedding fair – and playing host to a whole range of local wedding suppliers.

St Chad’s Church on Old Hall Lane in Kirkby will host the wedding fair from 1-3pm on Saturday 23rd February. Entry is completely free and couples can visit stands representing local businesses.

Stands will include cake makers, florists, dressmakers, photographers, hairdressers and room decorators, plus representatives from a range of local reception venues. St Chad's organist will also be present to play some popular wedding music and answer questions.

There will also be the chance to have an informal chat with vicars about getting married in any of the Church of England churches in Kirkby (St Chad’s, Southdene St Martin, Northwood St Mark and Tower Hill St Andrew), and look at pictures of church ceremonies.

It is now easier than ever to have a church wedding thanks to a new law - the new Marriage Measure. An engaged couple can have the church of their choice, provided that they can show just one of seven connections with the parish.

Rev Jeremy Fagan from St Martin’s Southdene, and who will be at the Wedding Fair said: “This wedding fair brings together local suppliers and local churches. We hope to show that you can find everything that you need for your wedding – including the church, reception venue and suppliers – in Kirkby itself. We hope that the informal atmosphere will also encourage couples to pop in and ask our clergy questions about marrying in church, which is now easier than it has ever been before. There will also be plenty of information to take away.”
