The Bishop of Liverpool presided and preached at a Eucharist for retired clergy across our diocese.
A packed Lady Chapel at the cathedral saw Bishop Paul preside and preach at a Eucharist for retired clergy. The service brings together in fellowship and communion those who have offered several years of dedicated service between them.
The service gives us an opportunity to remind ourselves of the debt most parishes across our diocese owe those who have formally retired from ministry.
Bishop Paul said “it was my pleasure and privilege to stand amongst so many faithful ministers at the Eucharist for retired clergy. It was humbling and moving to see so much collective wisdom and service gathered in one place. For me it was a welcome reminder of the debt we owe to so many faithful servants of Christ who in many parishes and places are the bedrock of our church. I give thanks for the service they have given and continue to give.”
