The parade starts at 5pm on Thursday 27th November and will reach the nativity crib by the Christmas tree at 5.30pm. There will be a short blessing of the crib by Church Leaders and the Liverpool Harmonic Gospel Choir will lead the singing.
We are looking for schools to join us in the parade - perhaps dressed as angels and shepherds - and to join in the carol singing. We also need hardy volunteers to staff the crib until Christmas Eve, give out prayer cards, information about Christmas services etc., and to collect for the food bank - but most of all to raise awareness of the real meaning of Christmas in the city centre - so important in this time of austerity for many.
If you can offer a couple of hours between 10am and 6pm Monday - Saturday anytime from Saturday 28th November until 23rd December we will welcome you with open arms. Our volunteers last year had a great time meeting people from all across the world and showing them that our great city of Liverpool knows what Christmas is really about!
'I had a wonderful time standing with the crib. Many people stopped to say how wonderful it was to see a Crib in the City Centre that was visible! Others just stopped to look, and take photos without talking. I was moved by the number of people who stopped to write prayers for the tree, it shows that people still have a strong connection to their faith! Furthermore, the number of people who donated to the Food Bank was overwhelming!'
