#Christmasstarts with inspiring the next generation

The 4 Saints Team Ministry (Huyton Deanery) have been delivering an exciting programme of school assemblies themed round 'Christmas Starts with Christ' to over 600 school children in Huyton.

We were excited to hear how the team have taken our Christmas campaign and, with a little imagination, have translated it into an assembly programme that has now been seen by children from 3 primary schools in Huyton.

Revd Rev Andrew Stott, Team Rector explains how a 4 foot replica of the bauble from the Dioscean posters was created (a 4foot beach ball, carefully prepared by Gordon Sutcliffe the Warden at St Luke's) and that imagery was brought to life by the team at the assemblies.

"As a Team of clergy, Jayne Vandenberg Owens, Hugh Lea-Wilson, Glyn Thomson and Andrew Stott, we worked with Emma O'Hagan to put an exciting programme together that we were able to present in Hope Primary (Joint Anglican and Roman Catholic Primary School), Stockbridge Village Primary School, and Mab Lane Primary School. We have managed to present the gospel to over 600 children, and on some occasions to their parents too.

As well as games and music, we started off by thinking of what other names we could call Chrsitmas. Gift -MAS, Family -MAS, Snow-Mas, Food-MAS. All of these were flawed ideas. Not everyone will receive gifts. Not everyone will be happy this Christmas in their family. What about the hot countries who have never seen snow. And not everyone will have food this Christmas. We rounded it of with Jayne performing a magic trick, a blank nativity picture being magically transformed into a colour nativity scene. At this point the bauble was revolved,  revealing the true meaning of  Christmas.

It has been a privilege and a joy to work together on this project. One lot of preparation, delivered three times. And we've all had a great time doing it. Next year, we hope to do the same again, and possibly in 5 schools."
