All welcome to the service tomorrow in Liverpool Cathedral at 3pm
A moment of history in our diocese was created when Bishop Paul collated – the legal act of swearing in a new Archdeacon – Jennifer McKenzie, Roger Preece, and Pete Spiers as our new Archdeacons. They will join the Venerable Ricky Panter in our new team, supported and guided by Bishop Richard as they seek to support us in becoming fit for mission.
This act marked the moment when we establish our four new Archdeaconry areas across our diocese. These are:
Knowsley and Sefton Archdeacon Pete Spiers
Liverpool Archdeacon Ricky Panter
St Helens and Warrington Archdeacon Roger Preece
Wigan and West Lancashire Archdeacon Jennifer McKenzie
Bishop Paul said "leadership is of utmost importance and equipping and empowering our leaders is one of the most important acts I can offer as Bishop. Saturday's appointment of our new Archdeacons is a great step forward for our diocese as we seek to be fit for mission. I thank God for Jennifer, Roger, Pete as they join Ricky in forming a new team under Bishop Richard’s guidance to support parishes and deaneries. I pray that through the encouragement of the Holy Spirit they in turn will equip and empower our parishes to focus on becoming bigger churches making a bigger difference"
