Following a routine angiogram Bishop James Jones is to have an elective coronary artery bypass operation at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital early this week.

As a result he is expected to be away from his duties for at least three months.

As he prepares for the operation Bishop James said “I am in good spirits and in good hands both divine and human.”

We would ask that you keep Bishop James, Sarah and the rest of the family in your prayers at this time.

Archbishop Patrick Kelly said: ‘During my own recent convalescence after surgery Bishop James accompanied me with prayer. I assure him now of my prayer, as he undergoes surgery, that those who care for him will be blessed with skill and he himself blessed with peace and consolation."
