Abram church set to host Wedding Forum

St John the Evangelist Church in Abram, Wigan, is teaming up with local suppliers to host its own Wedding Fayre.

St John the Evangelist Church in Abram, Wigan, is teaming up with local suppliers to host its own Wedding Fayre.

The fayre will take place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 27th April. Entry is completely free.

The church is inviting local cake makers, florists, dressmakers, photographers, hairdressers amongst others to the fayre to book a stand and talk to couples. Couples can also look around the church building and have an informal chat with clergy about a church wedding.

It is now easier than ever to marry in church thanks to a new law - the new Marriage Measure. An engaged couple can have the church of their choice, provided that they can show just one of seven connections with the parish.

Rev Ann Stein from St John the Evangelist said: "The main aim of this fayre is to show how a wedding can be organised without being too expensive, which is especially important in today's climate. We are very happy to be working with local businesses to show that you can find everything that you need for your wedding – local to the area"

Revd. Ann added: "We also hope that the informal atmosphere will also encourage couples to pop in to ask questions about marrying in church, which is now easier than it has ever been before. There will also be plenty of information on offer to take away."
