The Rt. Rev Bishop Richard Blackburn, Bishop of Warrington, visited Wargrave Church of England Primary School on Tuesday 19th May 2015 to present the school with the Church School Partnership Award 2.
The award celebrates the partnership between the school and its partner church, Emmanuel Wargrave. The award is given to schools and churches who demonstrate a proven record of working together in a range of innovative ways including: fundraising, shoebox appeals, prayer, use of buildings, music, after school clubs and citizenship projects, amongst other things.
The award was presented to Rev’d Val Hughes and Mrs Sue Wade, headteacher, following a worship led by the schools Christian Leader, Senior Teacher Mr Matthew Swann and the school’s ethos team. The worship celebrated the events of Pentecost and the power of the Holy Spirit moving amongst us.
Bishop Richard said "As we know one of the strengths of a church school is its distinctive values and this comes through the relationship between the church and school. I am particularly impressed by the links that have been established here between Wargrave CofE primary and Emmanuel church. I give thanks for the partnership here and pray for future success of the school, staff and pupils."
Mrs Sue Wade, headteacher said, “It's wonderful for Bishop Richard to visit our school along with the Reverend Carol Close. This celebrates what all in the Wargrave parish are proud of; our strong binding links. All of our learners are aware that they are part of a much wider Wargrave family, a family which includes the church, the diocese and the wider world through our charities and international links. It is important though to not forget the people who make this work possible and who carry out extra work behind the scenes; staff, foundation governors, the vicar, parents and numerous other organisations who continue to make Wargrave a very special place.”
