“Child Friendly Church Award has inspired us to keep children and young people at the forefront of our mission and ministry”

Congratulations to Emmanuel, Southport who received their third consecutive award of Child Friendly Church on Thursday 4th August.

Rev Irene Cowell said "It is a great milestone to receive our third Child Friendly Church Award at Emmanuel. The award has inspired us to keep children and young people at the forefront of our mission and ministry and is a testament to the dedication of all our leaders and helpers who support this valuable work.

We were especially pleased to be presented with the Child Friendly Church award by Sue Mitchell at our summer Holiday Club. It was Sue's enthusiasm at a meeting at church that captured the imagination of a small group of people to run Emmanuel's first Holiday Club, that was 8 years ago and since then this annual event has gone from strength to strength. This year we welcomed 80 children for a fun filled week of Bible stories, crafts and activities, supported by over 30 leaders and helpers.

Receiving the Child Friendly Church Award helps remind us all how important it is to show God's love to children, young people and their families and enable them to feel welcomed and part of His Church. "

Holiday Clubs

Did your Church run a holiday club this summer for the children of your church and community?

If you did can you tell us the reason why you chose to do this, or if not why you now no longer run them?

We are looking to discover more information from those churches that ran a holiday club or a similar summer provision for children. What worked, what were the numbers of children  attending, were you able to access funding, How important is this to the mission of your church.
